OUR MISSION
CAP Volunteers In Action - Founded in 1941, the Civil Air Patrol is one of America's largest civilian volunteer forces, numbering over 60,000 members. CAP functions as the Official Auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, and our missions include providing Emergency Services, Cadet Programs, and Aerospace Education to our communities. CAP's 1500 local squadrons in 50 states operate 550 aircraft that fly over 100,000 hours per year.
Search & Rescue - Civil Air Patrol Emergency Services personnel provide 90% of the inland Search and Rescue missions in the U.S. and we save an average of 75 lives each year. CAP assets include highly trained personnel, aircraft, vehicles, trained ground teams, and the largest ES radio network in the U.S.
KCCS is Ready to Serve - The Kansas City Composite Squadron utilizes CAP's Kansas aircraft fleet and supplies our community with emergency assets that include trained and credentialed Emergency Services personnel, vehicles, radios, and extensive ES training resources. KCCS trains continuously to maintain our mission readiness and ES capabilities--including our ground team and air crew mission readiness.
Strong Cadet Program - Civil Air Patrol’s Cadet Program provides 25,000 American teens some of the finest leadership training and practical experience available, consistently producing outstanding young leaders.
Cadet Leadership Training - CAP Cadets in our program not only have the privilege of wearing the official Air Force Uniform, but also work to earn promotions to advance in grade from Cadet Airman Basic, through the Cadet NCO ranks, into the Cadet Officer Corps, and into top Cadet leadership. Cadets who work hard can go far in CAP and well beyond!
Aerospace Training - CAP provides our Cadets and educators access to outstanding Aerospace Education resources—including peronally experiencing flight in our CAP aircraft. Aerospace Education is a cornerstone of CAP Cadet Programs and CAP learning opportunities abound, including National Flight Academies.
